Editor Review of Always Travelicious!

Always Travelicious! is a blog written and maintained by a Taiwanese blogger named KJ. She publishes itineraries of her travels, travel tips, food, hotels reviews and photo galleries from her travels. Her website is around 33 months old, and it is popular in travel niche around Malaysia, Singapore, and some visitors from United States as well. KJ has built a solid visitor base of an average of 28,000 visits per month. Average time spent of the site is around 3 minutes, which is great.

How did Always Travelicious! performed on our grading scale, let’s have a look.

Visual Appeal – 80%

On the main page, a big slider with 10 featured articles greets the visitor, showing off latest articles, food and travel related topics. When you look a bit longer at it, you notice the same articles can be found beneath the slider. They are positioned in the zoom boxes, which looks great, but they are unnecessary there. KJ shows off her social profiles (Facebook social popup was a bit annoying), her mobile phone app (good job), and more standard widgets on the right sidebar. WordPress installation loads up in decent times, and the theme is good.

The article about the locations, itineraries and meals are great, but the image quality looks average. Need improvements on the image composition. There are notable noise there, and some focus problems with some blurry details. KJ needs to brush up a bit on her photo taking skill.

The site doesn’t have a logo; all pictures are branded with letters. This can be solved easy, and give this blog an identity.

Originality – 81%

Always Travelicious! gives visitors detailed itineraries KJ visited, and explanations with links provided. Lovely scenery shows up in many places, and tasty food gets you interested. KJ has covered many Asian countries, and some of them much more than the others. It is also good alternative to showcase more European countries to the Asian audiences (Hungary was a pleasant surprise) thus give more choices to the readers.

Practical Tips – 83%

Since there are so many gorgeous places KJ features on Always Travelicious!, one usually end clicking at more posts, for some more interesting stuff. With detail itinerary, KJ gives us exact location and her firsthand experience. When you’re up for discovering new places, this blog will give you the necessary info to explore new and interesting destinations.

As for food articles, KJ gives detailed reviews of the restaurants that come with the story, or history, as well as useful information like the food taste, price and working hours. Pictures tell more than words, since many times I wanted to go and have a meal at some of the restaurants.

Web Usability – 84%

Always Travelicious! gave us many lovely articles to enjoy. The mobile site is responsive, but could be better design-wise. Colors blend in fine, providing good experience. Load time is bit slower though. Overall feel and experience visiting this site was above average.

Navigation links are sorted well, even though there are quite a number of possibilities which could confuse the visitors, and give them too many choices.

Summary

Always Travelicious! showcase some fine travel inspiration, and lovely food. Writing is descriptive and good formatted. Though there are some areas with room for improvement, this blog is doing well; the followers and visitors numbers showcase this the best way. We’re looking forward visiting KJ’s blog again.
